Lenten Book Study on Tuesday Nights: Beginner’s Guide to Holy Week

Join me on Tuesday nights in Lent for a book study! We will meet 7-8 p.m. online, starting February 24th. We’ll be reading Entering the Passion of Jesus: A Beginner’s Guide to Holy Week, by professor Amy-Jill Levine. Levine is not a Christian herself, and she is a renowned New Testament scholar. She offers context and an exciting, exhortative take on these Gospel passages. Her “outsider/insider” perspective makes this a helpful new way into such familiar stories. This book is also accessible for those who have no background in Bible study or Bible knowledge.

Each week we’ll start with a brief review of the chapter, then share something we liked or found striking, and then shift to questions and further discussion. Even if you were unable to read the chapter that week, I hope you’ll still attend!

You can buy the paperback here (also available in large print). Or, you can let me know that you’d like to attend, and I will send you the chapter each week as a pdf.

Finally–are you interested in helping with this offering? If so, I would love for a volunteer to lead the last two sessions. This requires only to read the chapter in advance and have prepared a question or two to help along discussion.

I hope you will join me!
