Submit images by Aug. 24th! “Names of God”
Dear parishioners,
I’m so delighted that the parish has enjoyed the images we’ve chosen before for the nave: the Stations of the Cross, and the Infancy Narratives of Christ (hung in Advent through Epiphany). Since they’ve been appreciated, we are going to try out a new series; Rev. Megan thought we might try focusing on the ecumenical Season of Creation (September through October). This overlaps nicely with one of the themes that comes in the whole season after Pentecost, that the Lord “renews the face of the earth.”
On Sunday, people put stickers on their favorite Biblical names for God drawn from natural imagery. Here below are the 8 names we’ll be using:
Light of the World
Light
Bread
Living Water
The Morning Star
Maker of Heaven and Earth
Firstborn of All Creation
The True Vine
The next step is picking an image for each. This time, we’d love to include some images made by you! Do you have a photograph or piece of visual art that you made that you would like to be considered for the nave? Send it to me by August 24th!
The images will be printed out without any names, and the whole parish will have a chance again to add stickers next to the images that they think would be good in the nave. These visual images can be photographs, drawings, sketches, paintings, collages, et cetera. They just need to be sent as a digital image that is high-quality enough to be reproduced at about the size of a sheet of paper.
Let me know if you have any questions!
